Junior Horse Trials Qualifier - 12th June 2011

Well done to the Junior Horse Trials team who won the Area 14 qualifier last Sunday 13th June held at Poplar Park and once again hosted well by Finn Valley Riding Club.
The team was Molly May who was 2nd individually riding Willie Go Far, Toni Arlett Johnson riding Dale, Anna Cooper riding The Pirate and Alice Cutter on Jimbo who was 5th individually.  After the dressage, the teams were all very close, with not many points separating them, but after the xc our girls finished on top of the leader board and received lovely white numnahs from Allan & Page as they were sponsors of this event.

So well done all of you, including all the unpaid grooms, helpers and supporters.  So now we go to Aston le Walls in August for the Horse Trials Championships, with a new dressage test to learn but this time in a long arena, so plenty of room to pick up speed especially for the give and retake reins in canter!

Picture taken at the end of the x country phase hence the red faces!

Houghton Hall - 29th May , way up the other side of Kings Lynn, where we entered a Dressage team who won !  Here's a report of the day...

We took a dressage team to Houghton Hall International Horse Trials on Sunday,29th May 2011. The backdrop to the arena's was absolutely amazing. The most perfect setting.
The build up had been full of various drama's. The team was Julia Woods & Paddy, Kay Barter & Stumpy, Alice Cutter & Jimbo and Fiona Reddick & Coumroe Floss. Reserves - Charlotte Grigg & Swan and Amanda Braham & Rio.
The 2 reserves went lame, Fiona's horse had colic, so Amanda borrowed Scooby of Charlotte Barter as she was lame but not her horse! Great. All sorted. Cutters car had no MOT, so no tax, etc, so I picked them up with my car and Fiona took my place as the helper as this was a requirement.
Kay & Charlotte very kindly sorted Scooby for me, so we all hoped to leave early. Phone rings around Castle Acre, ' Hi, It's Kay, I've lost the lorry keys, I did have them earlier', reply 'Don't panic'!

The miracle to this little story, is, as we spread our doom on the event. We book in to the secretary, as she is panicking, as the score sheets have been left behind, aha, to our advantage, giving us time for Kay to get to us, with 2 horses and herself.

We had the most fabulous day in the end. The team WON and we were all given lovely rosettes, prize money and each received an amazing etched glass trophy, now proudly on my mantle piece!

Tim & Fiona worked extremely hard as helpers, as other clubs, did not seem to understand the wording of 'bring a helper'!!! The Huntingdon & District have got this off the ground and have worked really hard themselves and a lady from Carousel was great. Anyhow, first year teething problems, but I hope we can go again next year.

Team Dressage -
Arena 1 - Amanda Braham - Scooby - 1st
Areana 2 - Kay Barter -   The Verdict  - 5th
Areana 1 - Alice Cutter - Tullabrack Jimbo - 3rd
Arean 2 - Julia Woods - Paddy - 1st.

Well done to everyone involved !!
